Magazine Production

When making my magazine I wanted to make sure that it had a dark tone. I felt this was important as my film was a horror film so setting a dark tone was quite important. I also wanted to follow typical conventions so i made sure i got direct address on my posted and added things such as barcodes and large film titles following typical conventions.

This was the first version of my poster. One of the things I already had experience with was the title from the poster. This allowed me to put in some affects in the title very easily. I also added a puff I decided to make it Red as it fit in with my theme and made it stand out against the background.  I also chose a black background so when i used my colour scheme of white and red it made it pop out making it more appealing to the users. I also put my text to the side as this showed where i would need to put my picture when I added it in.  I also made sure that i added in Barcode and date and price which will be needed on a Magazine.

The next step was to add the main image in this would be crucial to the magazine. The direct address that is in most magazine will need to replicated in this magazine, this is why I made sure I had my main actor stare right into the camera. This direct address will draw people into the magazine. However in this version my Main actor was on the left this would be something i would change in later versions as in this version it doesn't look as important as it should be.

In this version i made a few minor tweaks to my Magazine. The first of which would be the main actor as i moved him more central this made him a more major figure in the magazine. This created a better sense of direct address which adds to the attraction of the magazine. Another thing i did was move my title slightly down this made it look more magazine like, as before the tips of the letters were on the edge of the page. I also added some more cover lines to the right to fill in some of the blank space.
